ABSTRACT
Currently, in Brazil the use of the following vaccines is authorized for the immunization of the population against COVID-19 AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Coronavac and Janssen (the last two still in emergency registration). On October 8, 2021, the Ministry of Health presented the planning of the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 for next year in Brazil, which foresees the availability of more than 354 million immunization agents, 120 million of which will be purchased from AstraZeneca, 100 million from Pfizer and another 134 million doses will be balance of 2021 contracts (BRASIL, 2021c). The choice of these two brands of immunization agents took into account the fact that they have definitive registration with the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) and because they are already integrated into the National Immunization Program (PNI). The cost-effectiveness of vaccines that employ the "Recombinant" and "messenger RNA" technologies were also considered (BRASIL, 2021c). The Ministry emphasizes that, with the end of the pandemic expected in 2022 and in line with Article 30 of Resolution RDC No. 475, of March 10, 2021, immunizers who only have authorization for emergency use (Coronavac and Janssen) will not be able to be used outside the pandemic environment (BRASIL, 2021c & 2021d).
