Um olhar para o cuidador / A look at the caregiver

RESUMO

Segundo IBGE (2011) a população acima de 60 anos representa 10,8% da população do Brasil. Em função do envelhecimento populacional e a maior prevalência de doenças crônicas faz-se necessária a figura do cuidador de idosos. Essa pesquisa objetiva apresentar uma revisão da literatura a respeito do reconhecimento e estresse do cuidador informal de idosos dependentes em domicílio. A pesquisa apontou que a maior parte dos cuidadores é do sexo feminino, entre 30 e 60 anos, filhas ou esposas do idoso dependente. Essas mulheres abdicaram de seus projetos de vida para se dedicar a função de cuidar. A falta de planejamento e conhecimento prévio acarretam em estresse e comprometem a qualidade de vida destas cuidadoras. Em relação ao estresse, percebe-se que a maioria das cuidadoras está em fase de resistência ou quase exaustão. Há necessidade de um olhar atento aos cuidadores informais domiciliares pois estes exercem um papel fundamental no elo entre a equipe de saúde e o idoso

ABSTRACT

According to IBGE (2011), the population over 60 years of age in Brazil represents 10,8% of the overall population. Due to population aging and the higher prevalence of chronic diseases, the role of the elderly caregiver is imperative. This research is about the recognition and stress of the informal caregiver of dependent elderly people at home.This is literature review of articles published between 2012 and 2016 in the virtual library of Health Medline, Lilacs and Bireme, in addition to Scielo. The survey suggests that the majority of caregivers are female, between 30 and 60 years old, and are the daughters or wives of the dependent elderly. These women gave up their life projects to dedicate themselves to caring.Their lack of planning and prior knowledge lead to stress and undermine the quality of life of these caregivers. Regarding stress, the majority of caregivers are in the resistance or nearly exhaustion phases. A closer look at informal home caregivers is necessary because they play a key role in the link between the healthcare provider team and the patient
