ABSTRACT
Sedentary lifestyle is increasingly present in society, and has increased significantly, and can be considered a modern disea se, affecting not only adults, but also children. Associated with dietary changes and technological advances, it has often irreversible consequences, favoring several health problems. Therefore, the lack of physical activity can be a decisive element in the cause of childhood obesity, as there is a great tendency for sedentary children to become obese. Thus, prevention initiatives, if initiated before school age and maintained in childhood until adulthood through the practice of physical activity in childhood, becomes important because the child establishes relationships with the body, with the other and with the child. world around it and, consequently, in the prevention of several diseases, which can even benefit adulthood. The present study sought to analyze the impact of the level of physical activity on the motor development of schoolchildren. 90 students of both sexes participated in the study. The level of physical activity was assessed using the PAQ-C, and the level of motor development using the motor development scale (EDM). As for the level of physical activity, 44.4% were classified as insufficiently active and 55.6% sufficiently active. The data showed that the students Insufficiently Active0 IA, presented in their predominance classification of motor performance in two levels, very inferior and inferior, while the students Suficiente Ativos - SA were predominantly classified as inferior, normal low and average normal. SA (Sufficiently Active) students showed better motor results when compared to AI (Insufficiently Active), with regard to general motor age (p <0.0001), fine motor skills (p = 0.0003), global motor skills (p = 0.0025), balance (p = 0.0004), body scheme (p = 0.0060), temporal organization (p = 0.0166) and general motor quotient (p = 0.0002). The results found indicate that the level of insufficiently active physical activity promotes motor impairment in schoolchildren.(AU)
