Territórios em transformação: fatores que influenciam ações coletivas de uso e conservação de um espaço público / Transforming territories: factors that influence collective actions for the use and conservation of a public space

RESUMO

Segundo a Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU, 2017), mais da metade da população mundial vive em áreas urbanas, o que não é diferente no contexto brasileiro. O recorte desta pesquisa foi o município de São Paulo que, com o processo de urbanização, perdeu muitas áreas verdes, indicando a relevância da conservação das praças e parques existentes na cidade. Ações de movimentos sociais e ações coletivas têm surgido como forma de ocupar os espaços públicos com motivações diversas, seja no sentido de mudanças concretas em seus usos regulares, seja por razões de ordem pessoal. O objetivo da pesquisa foi mapear iniciativas; identificar motivações e analisar fatores que possam influenciar o uso e a conservação de um espaço público a partir de ações coletivas e de moradores do entorno de praças já existentes. Para tanto, foi conduzido um estudo tendo como locus a Praça da Nascente, localizada no Bairro da Pompeia, no município de São Paulo. Foi utilizada análise qualitativa com informações coletadas por meio de observação participante, registros fotográficos e entrevistas semiestruturadas, envolvendo moradores, comerciantes, o coletivo Ocupe & Abrace, entre outros grupos. A análise dos resultados das entrevistas foi realizada por meio de análise de conteúdo, segundo Bardin. Espera-se que com a identificação e a análise das motivações e fatores que podem influenciar os usos e a conservação destes espaços seja possível contribuir com estudos e a gestão destes espaços.

ABSTRACT

According to the United Nations (UN, 2017), more than half of the world's population live in urban areas, which is no different in the Brazilian context. The focus of this research was the city of São Paulo that, due to the urbanization process, lost many green areas, indicating the relevance of the conservation of the existing squares and parks in the city. Actions of social movements and collective actions have emerged as a way of occupying public spaces with different motivations, whether in the sense of concrete changes in their regular uses, or for personal reasons. The purpose of the survey was to map initiatives; to identify motivations and analyze factors that may influence the use and conservation of an urban public green space based on collective actions and those of residentes in the vicinity of existing squares. Therefore, a study was conducted at the locus Nascente Square (Praça da Nascente), located in the Pompeia neighborhood, in the city of São Paulo. Qualitative analysis was used with information collected through participant observation, photographic records and semi-structured interviews, involving residents, traders, the collective Ocupe & Abrace, among other groups. The analysis of the results of the interviews was carried out through content analysis, according to Bardin. Hopefully, the identification and analysis of the motivations and factors that can influence the uses and conservation of these spaces will contribute to studies and the management of these spaces.
