ABSTRACT
Abstract. The migratory phenomenon in Chile has undergone changes that can be perceived at a glance. Over the last decades, we have gone from being a country eminently generator of migrants, to receiving increasingly larger quantities of foreign nationals who choose Chile as the place where they will undertake their life project. 16.7% of migrants are in the age group between 0 to 19 years old. This group currently represents a figure close to 65,000 migrant children and adolescents (NNA) in Chile. The quality of life related with health (HRQOL) is the level of prosperity derived from a person's assessment about different domains of their lives, considering the impact that his/her state of health has on them. The general purpose of this research is to describe the HRQOL of migrant children enrolled in a school in the municipality of Independencia and compare it to a non-migrant group. This is a descriptive study. The average age of the 109 participants was 10 years 10 months. The distribution by sex was of 56 female (51.4%) and 53 male (48.6%). Of the 109 participants, 19 were migrants (17.4%) and the 90 remaining non-migrants (82.6%). In the group of migrant children, the global HRQOL index was 47.8, which was lower than the result obtained in paired non-migrants (49.2), but without a statistically significant difference.
