RESUMEN
Introducción:
El crecimiento de la población de adultos mayores ha originado la necesidad de contar con personal para su cuidado.Objetivo:
Modificar conocimientos en cuidadores de adultos mayores dependientes.Métodos:
Se realizó una intervención educativa en los 25 cuidadores de adultos mayores dependientes pertenecientes al consultorio médico N° 4 del Policlínico Ramón López Peña; de Santiago de Cuba, en el período de diciembre 2017 a septiembre de 2018. La estrategia educativa se realizó en tres etapas diagnóstica, desarrollo y evaluación. Para la obtención de información se aplicó un cuestionario a los participantes. Se estudiaron variables como edad, sexo y nivel de conocimientos.Resultados:
Se evidenció que antes de la intervención, la mayoría de los pacientes tuvieron conocimientos inadecuados en los dominios alimentación, baño e higiene, movilización y transferencia, relación de ayuda cuidador-anciano, y autocuidado de su salud, resultados que fueron modificados después de la intervención.Conclusiones:
Se logró una mejoría significativa de los indicadores de conocimientos evaluados(AU)ABSTRACT

The growth in the population of older adults has triggered the need of personnel to care for them.Objective:
To modify knowledge in caregivers of dependent older adults.Methods:
An educational intervention was carried out, in the period from December 2017 to September 2018, with the 25 caregivers of dependent older adults belonging to the family medical office # 4 of Ramón López Peña Polyclinic of Santiago de Cuba. The educational strategy was carried out in three stages diagnosis, development and assessment. To obtain information, a questionnaire was applied to the participants. Variables such as age, sex and level of knowledge were studied.Results:
It was evidenced that, before the intervention, most of the patients had inadequate knowledge in the domains of feeding, bathing and hygiene, mobility and movement, caregiver-elderly helping relationship, and self-care of their health, results that were modified after the intervention.Conclusions:
A significant improvement was achieved regarding the knowledge indicators assessed(AU)
