Objective:
This study aimed to evaluate the index of dental biofilm and the severity of gingi-vitis in schoolchildren before and after an oral health education lesson that was held in the "AABB Community Integration Program" in a town in southwestern Bahia.Methodology:
A survey was carried out on the index of dental biofilm and on the severity of gingivitis in 70 children and adolescents, aged between 6 and 17 years old, whose guardians agreed with the clinical examination and signed the Informed Consent Form. Results:
The predo-minance of gingival inflammation, observed and assessed through the presence of bleeding on probing, was clinically observed in all participants. In the first assessment, 22.9% had mild gingivitis, 44.3% moderate gingivitis, and 32.9% severe gingivitis. In the second as-sessment, 80% had mild gingivitis and 20% moderate gingivitis, with no severe gingivitis present in any participant, which proved a reduction in the degree of gingival inflammation. Conclusion:
