O corpo como ensaio para o amor e para a morte: narcisismo e desamparo em tempos de pandemia / The body as an essay for love and death: narcissism and helplessness in pandemic times

RESUMO

Este trabalho realiza aproximações entre os conceitos freudianos de narcisismo e de desamparo (Hilflosigkeit). O objetivo é refletir sobre o modo como o isolamento social e a pandemia de 2020 afetam nossas relações com o corpo, com as experiências de perda e de angústia diante do risco de adoecimento e morte. Discute-se que evitar o encontro com o desamparo fomenta modalidades de subjetivação por sujeição e por fixação melancólica, bem como atitudes de negação em relação à experiência da realidade. O excesso de demandas de amor e amparo reduz o sofrimento ao anseio por reasseguramento narcísico, o que limita a busca de transformação da experiência do desamparo e do próprio ato de sofrer. A partir do aporte teórico e clínico psicanalíticos, discutimos modalidades de reação social e subjetiva na atual configuração sociopolítica da pandemia. Concluímos que existe um egoísmo a ser abandonado, sob a pena de adoecermos muito mais. Este parece ser o caso da fixação aos sistemas fechados e totais.

ABSTRACT

This paper approaches the Freudian concepts of narcissism and psychoanalysis (Hilflosigkeit). The objective is to reflect on how social isolation and the 2020 pandemic affect our relationship with the body, as well as experiences of loss and anguish related to the risk of illness and death. It is argued that avoiding encounters with helplessness promotes subjectivity modalities throughout subjection and melancholic fixation, as well as attitudes of denial related to the experience of reality. The excessive demand for love and support reduces suffering to the desire for narcissistic reassurance, which limits the search for transformation over the experience of helplessness and the very act of suffering itself. Based on theoretical and clinical psychoanalytic contribution, we discuss ways of social and subjective reaction in the socio-political configuration of the current pandemic context. We conclude that there is a selfishness to be abandoned, under the penalty of us becoming sicker. This seems to be the case of fixation to closed and total systems.
