Análisis de la producción científica internacional sobre tratamientos contra la COVID-19 / Analysis of international scientific production about treatments against COVID-19

RESUMEN

El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo caracterizar la producción científica sobre tratamientos contra la COVID-19 registrada en la base de datos SCOPUS en el período 2019 - junio de 2020. Se realizó un estudio de carácter bibliométrico en 842 artículos sobre tratamientos contra la COVID-19 disponibles en la base de datos SCOPUS, así como un análisis de la productividad de autores, países, instituciones, revistas, redes de colaboración y temáticas. En la producción científica predominó el idioma inglés, la autoría múltiple, la publicación en revistas del primer cuartil en Scimago y se registró un alto índice de colaboración científica nacional. El análisis de co-ocurrencia de términos arrojó tres grandes grupos temáticos, principales focos emergentes de investigación sobre tratamientos contra la COVID-19, relacionados con la caracterización de los principales síntomas de la enfermedad, los tratamientos propuestos y los resultados clínicos de tratamientos en mujeres y adultos con comorbilidad. La producción científica internacional sobre tratamientos contra la COVID-19 muestra un ritmo de crecimiento sostenido como respuesta a la búsqueda de soluciones para reducir los índices de letalidad por el SARS-CoV-2. Se caracteriza por el predominio de la colaboración científica nacional, la publicación en revistas de alto impacto y de gran visibilidad internacional. Se debe fortalecer la colaboración internacional entre investigadores especializados en tratamientos contra la enfermedad para alcanzar resultados de mayor calidad(AU)

ABSTRACT

The present work aimed to characterize the scientific production on treatments against COVID-19 registered in the SCOPUS database in the period 2019 - June 2020. A bibliometric study was carried out in 842 articles on treatments against COVID-19 available in the SCOPUS database, as well as an analysis of the productivity of authors, countries, institutions, journals, collaboration networks and topics. In scientific production the English language predominated, multiple authorship, publication in first quartile journals in Scimago and a high index of national scientific collaboration was registered. The analysis of co-occurrence of terms yielded three large thematic groups, the main emerging focuses of research on treatments against COVID-19, related to the characterization of the main symptoms of the disease, the proposed treatments and the clinical results of treatments in women and adults with comorbidity. The international scientific production on treatments against COVID-19 shows a sustained growth rate in response to the search for solutions to reduce the fatality rates from SARS-CoV-2. It is characterized by the predominance of national scientific collaboration, publication in high-impact journals with great international visibility. International collaboration between researchers specialized in treatments against the disease should be strengthened to achieve higher quality results(AU)
