RESUMEN

Introducción. La electroacupuntura y el masaje terapéutico chino han mostrado efectividad en el tratamiento de diversas enfermedades; sin embargo, no hay evidencias científicas en su empleo como tratamiento rehabilitador del hombro congelado refractario. Objetivo. Evaluar la eficacia de la electroacupuntura y el masaje terapéutico chino en el tratamiento del hombro congelado fase II refractario a tratamiento convencional. Método. La intervención consistió en realizar un estudio cuasi experimental en pacientes con diagnóstico de hombro congelado en fase II y refractario a tratamiento convencional, usando medicina natural y tradicional, durante el periodo enero-abril de 2019. Se aplicó estadística descriptiva e inferencial. Resultados. Se logró una respuesta satisfactoria en la mayoría de los paciente, con 92,3 % de eficacia terapéutica. Conclusiones. El empleo de electroacupuntura, combinada con el masaje terapéutico chino, es efectiva en el tratamiento del hombro congelado refractario al tratamiento rehabilitador

ABSTRACT

Introduction. Electroacupuncture and Chinese therapeutic massage have shown effectiveness in the treatment of various diseases; however, there is no scientific evidence on their use as a rehabilitative treatment for refractory frozen shoulder. Objective. To evaluate the efficacy of electroacupuncture and Chinese therapeutic massage in the treatment of stage II frozen shoulder refractory to conventional treatment. Method. The intervention consisted of conducting a quasi-experimental study in patients diagnosed with stage II frozen shoulder refractory to conventional treatment, using natural and traditional medicine, during the period January-April 2019. Descriptive and inferential statistics were applied. Results. A satisfactory response was achieved in most patients, with 92.3% therapeutic efficacy. Conclusions. The use of electroacupuncture, combined with Chinese therapeutic massage, is effective in the treatment of frozen shoulder refractory to rehabilitation treatment.
