Agentes comunitárias de saúde e a busca pelo ensino superior: motivações e implicações para a profissão / Community health workers and the search for higher education: motivations and implications for the profession

RESUMO

Resumo Este artigo objetiva compreender as motivações das Agentes Comunitárias de Saúde procurarem formação de ensino superior e quais as implicações para a atuação desta categoria no Sistema Único de Saúde. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, com triangulação de métodos e análise a partir da hermenêutica dialética e vertente crítica da sociologia das profissões. Emergiram as categorias a) afirmação ou negação do projeto profissional; b) alterações nas relações de poder e nova inserção profissional. As motivações variaram entre melhorar a atuação como Agente Comunitária de Saúde, reversão do cenário de deslegitimidade e o desejo por mobilidade social. Como implicações, revela-se que a formação universitária amplia a valorização profissional e o reconhecimento social, mas nem sempre associado a uma nova reinserção profissional. A categoria não vislumbra uma formação própria em nível de graduação no momento, apontando a implementação de formação técnica como próximo horizonte.

ABSTRACT

Abstract This article aims to understand the motivations of Community Health Workers to seek higher education training and what are the implications for the performance of this category in the Unified Health System. This is a qualitative research, with triangulation of methods and analysis from the dialectical hermeneutics and critical aspect of the sociology of professions. The following categories emerged a) affirmation or denial of the professional project; b) changes in power relations and new professional insertion. The motivations ranged from improving performance as a Community Health Workers, reversing the scenario of delegitimacy and the desire for social mobility. As implications, it is revealed that university education expands professional appreciation and social recognition, but not always associated with a new professional reintegration. The category does not envision its own training at the undergraduate level at the moment, pointing to the implementation of technical training as the next horizon.
