RESUMO

Objetivo ­ Avaliar e complementar as práticas da higiene oral pelos profissionais de saúde em pacientes internados na unidade de terapia intensiva. Métodos ­ Pesquisa vinculada ao Programa de Educação pelo Trabalho para a Saúde do Ministério da Saúde que oferece assistência a saúde bucal especificamente a paciente internados na Unidade de Terapia Intensiva, sendo uma pesquisa descritiva e quantitativa, submetida para a aprovação do Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa da Universidade Paulista-UNIP sob o parecer de n° 984.874. A coleta de dados foi realizada através da aplicação e análise de questionários, com a participação de 30 (trinta) profissionais de enfermagem da UTI, do Hospital e Pronto Hospital 28 de Agosto, localizado em Manaus-AM. Resultados ­ Com a implementação da prática correta da higiene oral nos pacientes críticos, constatou-se a melhoria na prevenção das infecções causadas pelos microorganismos que se alojam na cavidade oral, observou-se pela equipe de enfermagem que no cotidiano hospitalar houve uma signicativa redução de casos de infecções na unidade de terapia intensiva. Conclusão ­ Sendo assim é de extrema importância à realização da higiene oral do paciente crítico. A higienização oral em pacientes de UTI depende especificamente da equipe de enfermagem, pois é ela quem irá prestar os cuidados necessários para a melhoria do paciente, pois o mesmo está acamado o que o impossibilita de realizar suas atividades diárias. Portanto a higienização oral não só ajuda a manter o estado sadio da cavidade bucal, mais também a prevenção de infecções do aparelho respiratório.

ABSTRACT

Objective ­ To evaluate and complementary practices such as oral hygiene for health professionals in patients in intensive care unit. Methods ­ Linked research at the Labor Education Program for Health of the Ministry of Health that provides oral health care specifically the hospitalized patient in the Intensive Care Unit, being a descriptive and quantitative research, subject to approval by the Research Ethics Committee University Paulista-UNIP in the opinion n° 984 874. The data collection was performed by application and analysis of questionnaires, with the participation of thirty (30) ICU nurses, the Hospital and Emergency Hospital August 28, located in ManausAM. Results ­ With the implementation of practice proper oral hygiene in patients critics, there was the improvement in the prevention of infections caused by microorganisms that lodge in the mouth, it was observed by the nursing team there was in the hospital routine significant reduction infection cases in the intensive care unit. Conclusion ­ Being so and of utmost importance to the realization of hygiene oral patient critical. The oral hygiene in ICU patients specifically depends on the nursing team, for she who will provide care to the improvement of the patient, the pois is even bedridden what makes it impossible to perform daily activities. So oral hygiene not only helps keep the sound state of the oral cavity, also more one respiratory apparatus of infection prevention.
