Conhecimento de estudantes universitários em relação ao HIV/AIDS / Knowledge of college students related to the HIV/AIDS

RESUMO

Objetivo ­ Levantar o conhecimento de estudantes universitários em relação ao HIV. A Síndrome da Imunodeficiência Humana (AIDS) é uma doença infecciosa causada pelo Vírus da Imunodeficiência Humana (HIV). Sua transmissão ocorre através dos líquidos corporais, sendo a relação sexual sem o uso de preservativo a principal via de contágio. Apesar do HIV ser conhecido desde o século passado, a falta de informação ainda é grande, o que gera preconceitos e constante aumento no número de notificações. Métodos ­ Foi realizado um estudo descritivo por meio dos dados obtidos da aplicação do questionário em 169 graduandos do curso de Biomedicina e Farmácia da Universidade Paulista. Resultados ­ As questões básicas em relação à transmissão do vírus HIV tiveram alto índice de acertos, atingindo a totalidade em um dos itens. Já em relação ao conteúdo específico, o número de acertos foi menor, chegando a 34,9% a respeito do exame ou método para identificação do vírus. 29% já realizam a sorologia para o vírus, 32,5% pretendem realizar o exame e 4,7% tiveram algum tipo de acidente com material biológico. Conclusão ­ Por meio dos dados obtidos, verificou-se que a maioria dos estudantes apresenta um conhecimento adequado em relação às formas de transmissão e prevenção do Vírus da Imunodeficiência Humana. Contudo, o conhecimento a respeito da detecção do HIV é pequeno e o interesse em realizar o teste anti-HIV é baixo.

ABSTRACT

Objective ­ To raise the knowledge of the college students in relation to HIV. The Acquires Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is an infectious disease caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). Its transmission occurs by the body fluids, with the sexual relation without protection as the main way of contagion. Despite HIV has been known since last century, the lack of information is still big, what causes prejudice and constant growth in the notification number. Methods ­ It was accomplished a descriptive study with the obtained data of the application of the questionnaire in 169 undergraduate students of Biomedicine and Pharmacy, University Paulista. Results ­ The basic issues related to the transmission of the HIV virus had a high level of hits achieving the totality in one of the items. In relation to the specific content, the number of hits was smaller, reaching 34.9% about the exam or method of the virus identification. 29% already held serology for the virus, 32.5% intend to carry out the examination and 4.7% had some kind of accident with biological material. Conclusion ­ By the obtained data, it was verified that most of the students own a suitable knowledge about the ways of transmission and prevention of Human Immunodeficiency Virus. However, the knowledge about the HIV detection is small and the interest in doing the test anti-HIV is low.
