Médico veterinário no núcleo de apoio à saúde da família: um profissional que pode fazer a diferença / The Veterinarian in the Family Health Support Center: a professional that can make the difference

RESUMO

A medicina veterinária é considerada uma profissão da área da saúde e que, no que diz respeito à saúde pública, atua especialmente sobre a tríade ambiente, humanos e demais animais, com ênfase nas enfermidades zoonóticas. No início da década de 1990, o Ministério da Saúde implantou no país a Estratégia Saúde da Família, com o objetivo de romper com o modelo de saúde então vigente, mecanicista e hospitalocêntrico, e atuar com base na promoção da saúde. A partir de 2011, o Ministério da Saúde possibilitou a inclusão do médico veterinário no Núcleo de Atenção à Saúde da Família, que funciona como uma retaguarda especializada com base no apoio matricial às equipes da Estratégia Saúde da Família. O presente trabalho teve o objetivo de descrever e discutir o papel dessa categoria profissional no Núcleo de Atenção à Saúde da Família e a importância de sua atuação para a saúde do território e da população adstrita.

ABSTRACT

The veterinary medicine is deemed to be a profession in the health area that is exercised, in the scope of public health, especially on the triad environment, human beings and other animals, with focus on zoonotic diseases. In the early 90's the Ministry of Health implemented the Family Health Strategy in Brazil, the purpose of which was to break up with the health model then in force - mechanistic and hospital-centric - and act based on the promotion of health. As from 2011, the Ministry of Health allowed the inclusion of veterinarians in the Family Health Support Center, which serves as a specialized aid based on the matrix support to the Family Health Strategy teams. This essay aims at describing and discussing the role of such professional category in the Family Health Support Center and the importance of their work to the health of the territory and its related population.
