ABSTRACT
Amyloidosis is a rare disease of unknown etiology, characterized by extracellular deposition of amyloid proteins. Patients often develop the systemic form of the disease, but it may also be restricted to a particular organ. In the respiratory system, the disease occurs in three forms tracheobronchial, nodular pulmonary, and diffuse parenchymal. In this paper, we report the case of a 67-year-old symptomatic male patient with a diagnosis of nodular pulmonary amyloidosis confirmed histopathologically by Congo red staining. Although uncommon, this disease should always be included in the differential diagnosis in the presence of clinical and radiological evidence of diffuse pulmonary involvement.
