RESUMO
Introdução:
O sorriso pode expressar as mais diversas sensações, que vão desde a felicidade à sensualidade. Ele não só é uma forma de comunicação, como também um meio de socialização e atração. Um sorriso considerado estético tem como característica a relação harmônica entre estrutura dos lábios e contorno dentogengival. Quando mais de 2mm de tecido gengival são expostos ao sorrir, é caracterizada a alteração denominada sorriso gengival.Objetivo:
Este trabalho teve como objetivo relatar um caso clínico de uma paciente que exibia excesso de gengiva ao sorrir, tendo a hiperfunção do lábio superior como etiologia. Relato de caso Com finalidade estética, foi realizada a cirurgia de gengivectomia/gengiplastia associada à aplicação de toxina botulínica tipo A para correção de sorriso gengival. Após a gengivectomia, foi feita a laserterapia de baixa potência para aumentar o conforto e o controle da dor no período pós-cirúrgico.Resultados:
Através de análise clínica e fotográfica, verificou-se que a associação de técnicas resultou em um sorriso harmônico e esteticamente mais agradável, com diminuição da exposição gengival durante o sorriso de 8mm para 2mm.Conclusão:
Concluiu-se que o diagnóstico preciso da etiologia e a correta escolha das técnicas empregadas para a correção do sorriso gengival são de fundamental importância para o sucesso do tratamento, sendo este previsível e satisfatório (AU)ABSTRACT
Introduction:
The smile can express a range of experiences, ranging from happiness to sensuality. It is not only a form of communication, but also a way of socialization and attraction. An aesthetic smile is characterized by the harmonious relationship between lips structure and dentogingival contour. When more than 2 mm of gingival tissue are exposed on smile, it's characterized the modification called gummy smile.Objective:
This article aimed to report a clinical case of a patient who used to show large gummy excess when smiling, with the hyperfunction of the upper lip as etiology. Case Report With aesthetic purpose, gingivectomy/ gingivoplasty surgery was associated with application of botulinum toxin type A for gummy smile correction. After the gengivectomy, low level laser therapy was used to enhance comfort and control the pain in the postoperative period.Results:
Through clinical and photographic analysis, it was found that the combination of techniques has resulted in a harmonious and more aesthetically pleasant smile, with decrease of gingival exposure from 8mm to 2mm.Conclusion:
It as concluded that the accurate diagnosis of the etiology and the correct choice of the techniques used for the correction of gummy smile are crucial for a successful, predictable and satisfactory treatment.(AU)
