RESUMEN
Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, transversal y retrospectivo en 19 pacientes diagnosticados y tratados por fibroma no osificante (FNO) en el Hospital Pediátrico Provicial Eduardo Agramonte Piña. En el período 1988-1998. El sexo masculino predominó significativamente (68%) sobre el femenino. El grupo de edades más afectado fue el de 11 a 15 años (68%). El elemento fundamental para el diagnóstico lo constituyó el hallazgo radiológico en un 47%, seguido del dolor y aumento de volumen en un 21% cada uno. Solo el 11% presentó fractura patológica. La localización más frecuente se encontró en las zonas metafisiarias más cercanas a la rodilla, tercio distal del fémur (41%), tercio proximal de la tibia (26%). El tamaño del tumor que predominó oscila entre 1 y 3 cm en el 53 % de los pacientes.
ABSTRACT
A descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective study is performed in a number of 19 patients diagnosed and treated for non ossifying fibroma (NOF) in Ëduardo a Agramonte Piña" Provincial Hospital within the period from 1988 to 1998. Masculine sex significantly prevailed (68%) upon the femenine. The age group most affected was that of 11 to 15 years with 68% . The main element for the diagnosis was the radiological finding in 47% followed by pain and increase of volumen in 21% each one. Only 11% presented pathological fracture. The most frequent localization was found in the metaphysial zones closer to the knee, distal third of femur (41%), proximal third of tibia (26%). The sise of tumor that prevailed ranges from 1 to 3 cms in 53% of cases.
