RESUMEN
Introducción: el sedentarismo se asocia a la obesidad y es una de las 10 causas fundamentales de mortalidad y discapacidad en el mundo. Se desconoce el comportamiento del fenómeno en mujeres adultas con exceso de peso corporal. Objetivo: determinar el tipo de actividad física y el tiempo empleado en mujeres adultas con exceso de peso corporal. Métodos: se realizó estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo y transversal con 39 pacientes que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión, atendidas en el Servicio de Endocrinología del hospital "Dr. Salvador Allende", de junio a agosto de 2014. Las variables utilizadas fueron: edad, peso, talla, índice de masa corporal, circunferencia de cintura, tipo de actividad física y media de tiempo empleado. Se aplicó la versión corta de cuestionario IPAQ. Se determinó la media, máximo y mínimo de las variables. Resultados: la media: edad 38 años, índice de masa corporal 36,1 Kg/m2, circunferencia de cintura 103,5 cm, actividad física intensa 1 día/semana y 12 minutos/día, actividad física moderada 2 días/semana y 42 minutos/día, sentado 8 horas/día. Conclusiones: las pacientes clasificaron como obesas y sedentarias, con tiempo empleado para la actividad física en valores inferiores a los recomendados(AU)
ABSTRACT
Introduction: Sedentarism is associated to obesity and is one of the 10 fundamental causes of death and handicap throughout the world. The behavior of this issue in overweight adult women is unknown. Objective: To determine the type of physical activity and time devoted to its practice by overweight adult women. Methods: A descriptive, retrospective and transverse study was made on 39 patients accomplishing with the inclusion criteria. They were admitted in the Endocrinology Service of "Dr. Salvador Allende" Hospital from June to August 2014. Variables used were: age, weight, height, body mass index, waist circumference, type of physical activity and time used average. The short version of IPAQ was applied. Average, maximum and minimum of the variables were determined. Results: Average: age 38 years, body mass index 36.1 Kg/m2, waist circumference 103.5 cm, intense physical activity 1 day/week and 12 minutes/day, moderate physical activity 2 days/week and 42 minutes/day, 8 hours/day sitting. Conclusions: Patients classified as obese and sedentary, with the time devoted to physical activity in less values than those recommended(AU)
