ABSTRACT
Understanding the factors that affect the procedural tactical knowledge of the players is crucial for adequate planning of training sessions. In this sense, the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between functional maturation and procedural tactical knowledge variables. Study participants were 29 soccer players (15.38 years ± 1.20), divided into two categories, under-15 and under-17, belonging to an extension project at the State University of Maringá. A battery of physical and anthropometric testing was performed. The procedural tactical knowledge was obtained through the "Game Instrument Performance Assessment" (GPAI). To investigate the differences between the categ was performed. The results indicated significant differences between categories of body mass, height, adult height achieved, horizontal jump and the running time in 50m. Significant correlations between CTP and running time were observed (-0.40) and Yo-Yo test (0.37), as well as between decision making and Yo-Yo test (0.39) and the running time in 50m (-0.48). Therefore, both the aerobic capacity and the running time in 50m are important attributes in the manifestation of CTP and decision making in football.(AU)
