A análise do fenótipo gengival nos procedimentos de reabilitação oral / Analysis of gengival phenotype in oral rehabilitation procedures

RESUMO

O fenótipo gengival constitui a somatória das características de cunho morfogenético pertencentes a gengiva de cada indivíduo, levando-se em consideração as características genéticas de cada um, o aspecto observado dos tecidos moles, bem como a reação dos tecidos frente a procedimentos cirúrgicos e protéticos. Classificam-se os fenótipos em grossos e finos. O objetivo deste artigo foi averiguar como pode ser empregado o fenótipo gengival no transcorrer do planejamento clínico odontológico. Foi efetuado levantamento bibliográfico com busca nas bases de dados LILACS, PubMED. Foram incluídos na pesquisa, artigos em inglês e português, publicados em periódicos nacionais e internacionais nos últimos dez anos que versavam sobre o emprego clínico do fenótipo gengival. Foram considerados válidos também apontamentos de livros, monografias, dissertações e teses que tratavam da mesma temática. Excluíram-se artigos presentes após o emprego da expressão de busca acerca da temática, que no entanto, não tinham conteúdo concernente com o pesquisado. Sob o aspecto de tornar-se factível uma reabilitação oral com estética positiva, tem-se o fenótipo gengival como fator determinante e que poderá repercutir nos resultados do tratamento odontológico pretendido, daí a importância de se executar um bom planejamento para se obter prognóstico favorável. Concluiu-se que com o estabelecimento de um prognóstico satisfatório realizado por intermédio da análise do fenótipo gengival realizada individualmente nos pacientes, tenderá a haver harmonia entre o tratamento odontológico reabilitador empregado, saúde gengival e estética dentária. ABSTRACT

The gingival phenotype is the sum of the morphogenetic characteristics belonging to the gingiva of each individual, taking into account the genetic characteristics of each one, the observed aspect of the soft tissues, as well as the tissue reaction to surgical and prosthetic procedures. The phenotypes are classified into coarse and fine. The objective of this article was to investigate how the gingival phenotype can be used during dental clinical planning. A bibliographic survey was carried out with search in the databases LILACS, PubMED. Included in the research were articles in English and Portuguese published in national and international journals in the last ten years that dealt with the clinical use of the gingival phenotype. Also considered valid were notes from books, monographs, dissertations and theses dealing with the same theme. We exclude present articles after the use of the search expression on the subject, which, however, had no content concerning the respondent. Considering that oral rehabilitation with a positive aesthetics is feasible, the gingival phenotype has a determinant factor and may have repercussions on the results of the dental treatment intended, hence the importance of performing a good planning to obtain a favorable prognosis. It was concluded that with the establishment of a satisfactory prognosis performed through the analysis of the gingival phenotype performed individually in the patients, there will be harmony between the rehabilitation dental treatment used, gingival health and dental esthetics.
