O aprendizado entre mulheres da família sobre amamentação e os cuidados com o bebê: contribuições para atuação de profissionais de saúde / Learning among family women about breast-feeding and baby care: contributions for health professionals' practice

RESUMO

Para ampliar a compreensão sobre o aleitamento materno, é preciso considerar que essa prática é influenciada por diversos fatores, entre eles as pessoas da família. O objetivo deste estudo foi compreender o que mulheres de diferentes gerações aprendem e ensinam sobre a prática de amamentar e os cuidados com o bebê. Trata-se de pesquisa qualitativa da qual participaram oito mulheres de um bairro de classe econômica baixa. Para a coleta de dados, utilizamos a entrevista semiestruturada. A análise dos dados baseou-se nos pressupostos da análise hermenêutica- dialética. Os processos educativos presentes no diálogo entre as mulheres mostram que as avós são pessoas de referência na família, possuem diversos saberes sobre a prática da amamentação e os cuidados com o bebê, transmitindo-os para suas filhas e noras. Ao desenvolver ações de promoção, proteção e apoio ao aleitamento materno, profissionais de saúde precisam reconhecer e valorizar os saberes que as mulheres trazem da convivência em família, estabelecendo uma relação dialógica que permita a reflexão e ampliação desses saberes.

ABSTRACT

To increase knowledge about breastfeeding, one must bear in mind that this practice is influenced by several factors, including the family members. The aim of this study was to understand what women of different generations learn and teach one another about the practice of breastfeeding and baby care. This is qualitative research in which eight women from a lower economic class neighborhood took part. For data collection we used the semi-structured interview method. Data analysis was based on the assumptions of hermeneutic-dialectic analysis. The educational processes presented in the dialogue between the women show that the grandparents are highly regarded people in the family; they possess broad knowledge about the practice of breastfeeding and caring for the baby, transmitting this to their daughters and daughters-in-law. When developing actions for promotion, protection, and support for maternal breastfeeding, health professionals need to recognize and value the knowledge that women bring from their family experiences, establishing a dialogic relationship that allows reflection and enlargement on that knowledge.
