RESUMO
O trabalho objetivou identificar e analisar as percepções dos acadêmicos da Universidade Estadual de Montes Claros, Unimontes, com relação à Odontologia e o mercado de trabalho . O estudo qualitativo foi realizado com estudantes de todos os períodos do curso, no ano de 2006. A seleção da amostra foi a probabilística casual simples . O método utilizado foi a entrevista semi-estruturada . Há diferentes percepções concernentes ao mercado de trabalho em Odontologia . Percepções negativas como mercado saturado, competitivo, banalizado e concorrência desleal. Em contrapartida, percepções positivas como mercado amplo, carência de profissional especializado, recém-formados empregados e setor público favorecendo o mercado de trabalho. Concluiu-se que, apesar das dificuldades encontradas no atual mercado de trabalho a oferta de empregos no setor público foi percebida como fator facilitador para inserção no mercado de trabalho (AU).
ABSTRACT
The study aimed at identifying and analyzing the perceptions of the students of the State University of Montes Claros, Unimontes, with relation to the dental job market. This qualitative study was performed with students from all years of the course, in the year of 2006. The selection of the sample was simple casual probabilistic. The method used was the semi-structured interviewDifferent perceptions concerning the dental job market were observed. Negative perceptions were that the market was saturated, trivial and competitive, and that competition was unfair. On the other hand, positive perceptions were that the market was ample, that specialized professionals were lacking, that jobs were being offered to new college graduates and that the public sector favored the job market. In conclusion, despite the difficulties found in the current job market, public sector insertion was perceived as a factor facilitating insertion in the job market (AU).
