Vivências do pai em face do nascimento do filho prematuro: revisão integrativa / Experience of the father the son's premature birth: integrative review

RESUMO

Introdução: O cuidado do filho durante muito tempo foi responsabilidade única e exclusiva da mãe, sendo o pai o responsável apenas pelo sustento da família. No entanto, esta forma de distribuição dos papéis familiares sofreu alterações no decorrer dos anos, e hoje, o pai divide com a mãe as decisões do cotidiano. Objetivo: Identificar, por meio da revisão integrativa, os sentimentos vivenciados pelo pai em face do nascimento do recém-nascido prematuro. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa em que são utilizados artigos científicos completos indexados nas bases de dados LILACS, MEDLINE e SCIELO, publicados no período de 2005 a 2015, nos idiomas português e inglês. Foram selecionados 13 artigos para compor essa sistematização. Resultados: Observou-se que os sentimentos mais prevalentes encontrados nos estudos foram medo e insegurança em decorrência do risco de morte e sequelas. Entretanto, alegria e felicidade se associam em diversos momentos devido à concretização da paternidade. O pai, de modo geral, vivencia sentimentos intensos, tão importantes quanto os da mãe. Conclusão: As equipes de saúde atuantes nas unidades neonatais devem estar preparadas para acolher, aconselhar e ensinar esse pai no cuidado do prematuro. Há a necessidade de novos estudos que insiram a figura paterna nesse contexto. Discute-se, também, a adoção de políticas públicas que fiscalizem essa implementação, auxiliando a minimizar sentimentos de sofrimento e a fortalecer sentimentos positivos

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The care of the child for a long time was the sole and exclusive responsibility of the mother, and the father was responsible only for the support of the family. However, this form of distribution of family roles has undergone changes over the years and today the father divides with the mother the decisions of daily life. Objective: To identify, through an integrative review, the feelings experienced by the father during the birth of a premature newborn. Methodology: This is an integrative review using scientific articles indexed in the LILACS, MEDLINE and SCIELO databases published in the period 2005 to 2015, in Portuguese and English. We have selected 13 articles to compose this systematization. Results: It was observed that the most prevalent feelings found in the studies were fear and insecurity due to the risk of death and sequelae. However, joy and happiness are associated with different moments due to the realization of paternity. The father, in general, experiences intense feelings, as important as those of the mother. Conclusion: Health teams working in neonatal units should be prepared to receive, advise and teach this parent in the care of a premature newborn. There is a need for further studies that insert the paternal figure in this context. It also discusses the adoption of public policies that oversee this implementation, helping to minimize feelings of suffering and strengthening positive feelings.
