Manifestações ósseas bucais da osteoporose / Buccal bone manifestations of osteoporosis

RESUMO

O objetivo do presente artigo foi averiguar manifestações clínicas da osteoporose no âmbito do complexo ósseo maxilo-mandibular. Foi realizado levantamento bibliográfico com busca nas bases PubMed, Scopus, LILACS de estudos sobre as manifestações da osteoporose a nível do complexo ósseo maxilo-facial. Constatou-se que muitas vezes, por intermédio de um exame radiográfico odontológico é que se descobre o acometimento por osteoporose e se procede ao encaminhamento médico reumatológico. Na maioria dos estudos consultados esse procedimento foi considerado muito importante por se tratar de uma doença que não tem cura e que deve ser mantida sob controle por tratamento médico e/ou farmacológico continuadamente. Concluiu-se que, a melhor maneira de se lidar com a osteoporose é através do tratamento preventivo, passível de ser realizado pelo diagnóstico precoce, inclusive em âmbito odontológico, possibilitando a minimização de possíveis danos.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this paper was to investigate the clinical manifestations of osteoporosis in the maxillo-mandibular bone complex. It conducted literature search with the bases PubMed, Scopus, LILACS studies on the manifestations of osteoporosis within the maxillofacial bone complex. It was found that often, through a dental radiographic examination is that discovers the involvement of osteoporosis and proceeds to rheumatologic medical referral. In most studies consulted this procedure was considered very important because it is a disease that has no cure and it must be kept under control by medical treatment and/or pharmacological continuously. It was concluded that the best way to deal with osteoporosis is through preventive treatment, which can be done by early diagnosis, including dental framework, allowing to minimize possible damage.
