ABSTRACT
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia, characterized by progressive cognitive impairment. Clinical diagnosis is usually late, occurring after induction of irreversible neuronal injury. New neuroimaging techniques allow for the in vivo evaluation of AD pathogenesis (functional magnetic resonance imaging fMRI, positron emission tomography-computed tomography - PET-CT) representing a new hope for the early diagnosis, prevention and tentative treatment of this disease.
