Efeitos a longo prazo de vitimização na escola / Long-term effects of victimization at school

RESUMO

O presente estudo objetivou ampliar o conhecimento sobre as consequências a longo prazo da vitimização escolar por meio de um estudo piloto que investigasse as experiências mais negativas vivenciadas por estudantes universitários durante a época escolar anterior à Universidade. Uma amostra de 81 estudantes (M=21 anos, 76% mulheres) respondeu ao Questionário sobre Alienação e Trauma em Estudantes - Revisado. A análise dos dados demonstrou que, na maioria dos casos, a pessoa envolvida na pior experiência escolar era outro estudante (52%), as experiências ocorreram entre 11 e 14 anos (45%) e envolviam uma situação de violência verbal (45,3%). Após a experiência, 89% dos participantes sentiram nervosismo, raiva, tristeza, solidão e rememoração do fato ocorrido e 38% da amostra apresentaram quadro sugestivo de Transtorno de Estresse Pós-Traumático. Os resultados devem ser interpretados com cautela, pois se trata de um estudo inicial. Alterações no instrumento e novas estratégias de aplicação são sugeridas.

ABSTRACT

This study aimed at broadening the knowledge about the long term effects of school victimization by means of a pilot study investigating the most negative events experienced by university students during the school years preceding University. A sample of 81 students (M= 21 years of age, 76% female) answered the Student Alienation and Trauma Scale - Revised. The analysis of the data demonstrated that, in most cases, the person involved in the worst school experience was another student (52%), the experiences occurred between the age of 11 and 14 years old (45%) and involved a situation of verbal violence (45.3%). After the experience, 89% of the participants felt nervousness, anger, sadness, loneliness, and remembrance of the occurred event, and 38% of the sample presented a picture suggesting Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome. The results must be interpreted with caution, for it is an initial study. Alterations in the instrument and new application strategies are suggested
