RESUMO

Apresentamos um estudo sobre as definições de personalidade e caráter na psiquiatria clássica, na metapsicologia freudiana e na literatura psicanalítica, para pensar os desafios impostos ao psicanalista pelas neuroses contemporâneas. Seguindo Miller, parti mos do caráter como a noção advinda do campo da psiquiatria que prefigura o resto não interpretável que habita o sinthoma enquanto conjunção do sintoma com o caráter. Após abordarmos a semiologia psiquiátrica clássica, delimitamos em Freud a distinção entr e sintoma e caráter. Em seguida, trazemos as contribuições de Reich e Fenichel. Um situa as couraças do caráter como efeitos patogênicos da coerção civilizatória. Já o outro associa as deformações de caráter ao empobrecimento da elaboração inconsciente e d a rigidez da defesa do eu contra a angústia devido, levando a personalidades enrijecidas no gozo autista do sinthoma.

Nous présentons une étude sur les définitions de personnalité et caractère dans la psychiatrie classique, dans la métapsychologie freudienne et dans la littérature psychanalytique, pour réfléchir aux défis posés au psychanalyste par les név roses contemporaines. En suivant Miller, nous partons du caractère comme la notion venue du champ de la psychiatrie qui préfigure le reste non interpretable qui habite le sinthome en tant que conjonction du symptôme avec le caractère. Après avoir approché la sémiologie psychiatrique classique, nous délimitons chez Freud la distinction entre symptôme et caractère. Ensuite, nous apportons les contributions de Reich et de Fenichel. On place les cuirasses du caractere comme les effets pathogènes de la contraint e civilisatrice. L'autre, cependant, associe des déformations de caractère à l'appauvrissement de l'élaboration inconsciente et à la rigidité de l'autodéfense du moi contre les angoisses, ce qui conduit à des personnalités durcies dans la jouissance autist ique du sinthome.

ABSTRACT

We present a study on the definitions of personality and character in classical psychiatry, in freudian metapsychology and in psychoanalytic literature in general, to think about the challenges imposed on the psychoanalyst by contemporary neuroses. Followi ng Miller, we start from the character as the notion coming from the field of psychiatry that prefigures the undecipherable rest that inhabits the sinthome as a conjunction of the symptom with the character. Then we bring the contributions of Reich and Fen ichel. One places the armors of character as the pathogenic effects of civilizational coercion. The other, however, associates deformities of character with the impoverishment of unconscious elaboration and the rigidity of the self's defense against anguis h, leading to personalities stuck in the autistic jouissance of the sinthome.
