RESUMO

A Tuberculose (TB) é uma doença causada pelo Mycobacterium tuberculosis, cuja forma pulmonar bacilífera se constitui um problema de saúde pública de forma global. O Brasil compõe um grupo alvo de 22 países com as maiores incidências de TB no mundo, e Porto Alegre é uma das cidades com maiores incidências em nosso país. É fundamental realizar o diagnóstico precoce e instituir a terapêutica nos casos bacilíferos, responsáveis pela perpetuação e transmissibilidade da doença. O Ministério da Saúde (MS-Brasil) preconiza o início do tratamento quando identificado o sintomático respiratório associado a pelo menos um exame de escarro positivo para BAAR e/ou RX de tórax sugestivo. O tratamento disponível sob esquema de primeira linha é o Rifampicina-Hidrazida-Pirazinamida-Etambutol (RHZE), é eficaz e promove cura na quase totalidade dos casos.

ABSTRACT

Tuberculosis is a disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, whose pulmonary form constitutes a public health problem globally. Brazil was part of a target group of 22 countries with the highest incidence of TB in the world, and Porto Alegre is one of the cities with highest incidences in our country. It's essential make early diagnosis and institute treatment in smear positive cases, responsible for the perpetuation and transmission of the disease. The Ministry of Heath of Brazil recommends starting treatment when identified respiratory symptoms associated with at least one sputum examination positive for AFB and/or chest x-ray suggestive. Treatment available under the scheme is the first line Rifampcina-Hydrazide-Pyrazinamide-Ethambutol (RHZE), which promotes healing and is effective in almost all cases.
