With an effective technique of segmentation it is possible to increase the diagnostic accuracy in computer-aided diagnostic systems. OBJECTIVES:
This paper proposes a method to evaluate the features extractors used inthe pattern classification of lung tissue.METHOD:
The features descriptors used were the Local Binary Pattern (LBP), Completed Local Binary Pattern (CLBP), Gray-Level Co-Occurrence Matrix (GLCM), Histogram Moments, Gray Level Histogram and Top-hat Transformation. The pattern classification was performed using support vector machines (SVM) and a cross validation leave-one-patient out approach. RESULTS ANDCONCLUSION:
The best lung tissue classification was obtained combining the top-hat and histogram methods, with an accuracy of 98.26% and 98.16% respectively, that represent higher accuracy when compared with the current literature.
