Introduction:
Breast cancer develops due to uncontrolled cell division. The main form of treatment is surgery, and the pain of the factors arising. Objectives:
To evaluate the effects of physical therapy in pain and thermographic map of elderly undergoing breast cancer surgery. Methods:
Quantitative study, quasi experimental conducted with 10 elderly undergoing surgery. The evaluation was done before and after the intervention by the McGill pain questionnaire and the thermographic camera Eletrophysics PV320T to identify the body temperature in the thoracic region of the patient. We used for analysis the Wilcoxon test and Spearman correlation, with a 0.05 significance level. Results:
The pain reduced in the evaluated sites, except for the axillary region. In the McGill Pain Questionnaire, the physical part characterized greater decrease compared to initial and final evaluation. In the total score, the difference was significant. Among the moments of evaluation, we observed a significant increase of the temperature of operated and preserved area. There was a significant correlation between the evaluation field and temperature in the initial evaluation. Conclusion:
Physical therapy decreased pain and altered the thermographic map of the patients in this study.(AU)
