O impacto da doença de Alzheimer no familiar cuidador no interior do estado de São Paulo / The impact of Alzheimer's disease on family caregivers in the state of São Paulo

RESUMO

O Alzheimer é considerado uma doença caracterizada pelo declínio das funções intelectuais superiores, como memória, linguagem, orientação, atenção, entre outros, podendo interferir nas atividades profissionais ou sociais do individuo, causando estresse, dúvidas e angústias nos familiares. O objetivo do trabalho é avaliar a qualidade de vida dos familiares cuidadores de pacientes com Doença de Alzheimer. A pesquisa foi realizada no domicílio de cada participante. Foram avaliados 20 familiares cuidadores. Utilizou-se o Teste de Qualidade de Vida SF-36 e o Inventário de Sintomas de Stress para adultos de Lipp. Em relação à qualidade de vida dos cuidadores que participaram desta pesquisa, apresentaram resultado favorável nos itens capacidade funcional, aspectos físicos, estado geral de saúde, vitalidade, aspectos sociais, aspectos emocionais e saúde mental, porém no aspecto da dor, obtivemos nível elevado e quanto ao estresse houve predominância de sintomas psicológicos. A Doença de Alzheimer confronta o familiar com uma carga enorme de estresse, afetando assim sua qualidade de vida.

ABSTRACT

Alzheimers is a disease brought on by age characterized by the decline of higher intellectual functions such as memory, language, orientation, attention, among others, with the potential to interfere in the professional or social activities of the individual, causing stress, doubts and anxieties in the family. The objective is to assess the well-being of Alzheimer patient family caregivers. The survey was conducted in the participant's homes. There were 20 family caregivers. We used the Test Quality of Life SF -36 and the Inventory of Stress Symptoms for adults Lipp. Regarding the well-being of the caregivers who participated in this study the following items had favorable results: physical functioning, role physical, general health, vitality, social functioning, emotional and mental health. There was a very high level in the pain category and in terms of stress there were predominantly psychological symptoms. Families that face Alzheimer's disease are faced with a huge load of stress, thus affecting their quality of life.
