Introduction:
Considering the consistent relationship between elevated blood pressure and the risk of cardiovascular and renal diseases arising from it, this article addresses the intervention of non-pharmacological measures in the management of this chronic-degenerative public health problem of undisputed proportions and epidemiological magnitudes. Objective:
To describe the association between non-pharmacological measures in primary and secondary care, and the prevalence and incidence of systemic arterial hypertension (SAH).Methods:
We analyzed the scientific production published in the period from 2011 to 2016, in Pubmed, Lilacs and Scielo databases. A total of 879 articles were selected for the second phase of the study, of which 34 articles were included for the review. Results:
Non-pharmacological methods developed in Primary and Secundary Care have been shown to be effective in preventing and reducing the incidence of SAH.Conclusion:
The incentive to adopt healthy life habits, in a multidisciplinary approach and follow-up, inseparable components in the execution of quality health exercise, demonstrated a contribution in the prevention of hypertension and in the non-pharmacological treatment of the hypertensive individual, in the scope of Primary and Secondary Care.
