RESUMO
Objetivou-se estimar a prevalência de inatividade física em adolescentes e analisar sua associ-ação com variáveis socioculturais. A amostra foi constituída por 1.060 adolescentes. A inati-vidade física foi mensurada com o IPAQ versão curta e as informações socioculturais analisa-das foram obtidas através de uma entrevista. Os resultados indicam que 69,5% dos adolescen-tes de ambos os sexos foram classificados como inativos fisicamente. As variáveis associadas à inatividade física foram o local de nascimento do pai, morar apenas com a mãe, não ser es-timulado pelo professor e não consumir alimentos saudáveis. Conclui-se que a prevalência de inatividade física em adolescentes foi elevada e parecem sofrer influência dos fatores socio-culturais.
ABSTRACT
This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of physical inactivity to analyze its association with sociocultural variables. The sample consisted of 1.060 adolescents. Physical inactivity was measured with the IPAQ short form and sociocultural information analyzed was obtained through an interview. The results indicate that 69,5% of adolescents of both sexes were classi-fied as physically inactive. The variables associated with physical inactivity were his father's birthplace, living only with the mother, not be stimulated by the teacher and not to consume healthy foods. We conclude that the prevalence of physical inactivity among adolescents was high and seem to be influenced by sociocultural factors.
RESUMEN
Este estudio tuvo como objetivo estimar la prevalencia de inactividad física entre los adolescentes y analizar su asociación con variables socioculturales. La muestra estuvo conformada por 1.060 adolescentes. La inactividad física se midió con la versión corta de IPAQ y las informaciones socioculturales analizadas se obtuvieron a través de una entrevista. Los resultados indican que el 69,5% de los adolescentes de ambos sexos fueron clasificados como físicamente inactivos. Las variables asociadas a la inactividad física fueron el lugar de nacimiento del padre, vivir sólo con la madre, no recibir estímulos del profesor y no consumir alimentos saludables. Se concluye que la prevalencia de inactividad física entre los adolescentes fue alta y parece estar influenciado por factores socioculturales.
