Práticas parentais: um estudo sobre escolhas educativas / Parental practices: a study about child rearing choices

RESUMO

A pesquisa aqui relatada teve como objetivo realizar um estudo de escolhas educativas, de forma a descrever as dificuldades narradas por mães e pais para educar, bem como as alternativas encontradas por eles para lidar com esses desafios. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, de base fenomenológica, de cunho interventivo, que teve como procedimento a realização de quatro encontros reflexivos, dois com mães e dois com homens pais. Os relatos dos 58 participantes sobre suas práticas educativas foram gravados, transcritos e analisados segundo perspectiva hermenêutica de análise do sentido. Foi possível concluir que escolhas educativas parentais que, num primeiro olhar, poderiam parecer falta de cuidado ou interesse, estão enraizadas em diversos aspectos, como dificuldades sociais e cultura familiar. Compreendê-los favorece a desconstrução de pré-conceitos e o estabelecimento de ações interventivas que considerem desafios que os pais efetivamente enfrentam.(AU)

ABSTRACT

The aim of this research was to study child rearing choices, in order to describe difficulties reported by mothers and fathers to raise children as well as the alternatives found by them to deal with these challenges. It is a qualitative, interventive, phenomenological research, that contemplated four reflective meetings , two with mothers and two with fathers. The reports of the 58 participants about their child rearing practices were recorded, transcribed and analyzed by the hermeneutic perspective. It was concluded that parental child rearing choices that, at first glance, might seem as lack of care or interest, are in fact rooted in different aspects, such as social problems and familiar culture. Understanding them helps the deconstruction of prejudices and the establishment of interventive actions to consider the challenges that parents actually have.(AU)
