Participação paterna no período da amamentação: importância e contribuição / Father participation in the period of breastfeeding: importante and contribution

RESUMO

O aleitamento materno é fundamental para a promoção e proteção da saúde das crianças, fato amplamente divulgado em campanhas nacionais e mundiais. Nesse contexto é importante destacar a atuação e os sentimentos paternos em relação a este aspecto, ainda pouco discutidos na literatura. O objetivo geral do estudo foi apresentar os sentimentos referidos por pais e sua contribuição no processo do aleitamento materno; apresentar o perfil sociográfico dos sujeitos, uma vez que geralmente vivenciam novidades e desafios durante o período do aleitamento materno. Pesquisa descritiva, qualitativa, desenvolvida por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas. Foram sujeitos pais com idade a partir de dezoito anos, cujos filhos se encontravam no período de amamentação e que concordaram em participar do estudo. Foi desenvolvida em um ambulatório de pediatria, ginecologia e obstetrícia da cidade de Uberlândia, MG. A amostra foi composta por 40 sujeitos e o instrumento de coleta de dados composto por uma parte introdutória para caracterização dos mesmos e outra para explorar sentimentos e percepções dos pais quanto a esse processo. Os resultados apontaram a prevalência de pais na faixa etária dos 25 anos, casados, com 2º grau completo, com filhos em aleitamento materno em idade entre um e dois dias. Quanto à forma de conhecimentos e informações sobre o período e a amamentação a TV foi citada como o principal meio de informações sobre aleitamento. Cuidados à criança e afazeres domésticos foram citados como contribuições fundamentais efetuadas pelo pai nesse período. A informação julgada como sendo a mais importante foi a necessidade de acompanhamento à mulher em todos os momentos do aleitamento. Entende-se ser, imperativo maior treinamento dos profissionais de saúde e envolvimento de outros profissionais, além da mãe e do bebê no período da amamentação. Os pais devem ser entendidos como sujeitos essenciais no cuidado da criança e das companheiras e, portanto, devem ser auxiliados quanto a esse aspecto. Os resultados do estudo podem ser utilizados como fontes no hospital onde se desenvolveu o estudo, bem como noutros nosocômios. Reitera-se ser o homem nessa fase tão importante da vida, um importante aliado para o binômio mãe-bebe.

ABSTRACT

Breastfeeding is essential for the promotion and protection of children's health, a fact widely reported in national and global campaigns. In this context it is important to point out the role and paternal feelings in this regard, yet little discussed in the literature. The overall objective of the study was to present the feelings reported by parents and their contribution in the breastfeeding process; present the sociographic profile of the subjects, since usually experience news and challenges during the period of breastfeeding. Descriptive, qualitative research conducted through semi-structured interviews. Were subjects parents aged from eighteen, whose children were in the breastfeeding period and who agreed to participate in the study. Was developed in a pediatric, gynecology and obstetrics ambulatory in Uberlândia, MG. The sample consisted of 40 subjects and data collection instrument consists of an introductory part for the characterization of them and another to explore feelings and perceptions of parents regarding this process. The results showed the prevalence of parents aged 25 years, married, with 2 high school degree, with children of breastfeeding age between one and two days. As to the form of knowledge and information about the breastfeeding and the period, the TV was cited as the primary mean of information about breastfeeding . Childcare and household chores were cited as key contributions made by the father in this period. Information deemed to be the most important was the need to monitor the woman at all times of breastfeeding. It is understood to be imperative and increased training of health professionals and the involvement of other professionals, in addition to mother and baby during breastfeeding. Fathers should be understood as essential subjects in child care and companions and therefore should be helped in this regard. The results of the study can be used as sources in the hospital where the study was conducted, as well as other institutions. Is reiterated the man is in such important stage of life , an important ally for both mother and baby.
