El profesional de enfermería en el seguimiento a la adherencia al tratamiento antirretroviral / The nursing professional's role in following adherence to antiretroviral treatment

RESUMEN

Introducción: el seguimiento al tratamiento antirretroviral es una arista de la atención al paciente con VIH/SIDA que tiene un abordaje multidisciplinar y en el que el profesional de enfermería, durante su desempeño coherente y flexible, debe lograr actitudes que favorezcan índices elevados de adherencia terapéutica. Esta categoría es poco abordada, por lo que se hace necesario un análisis valorativo de sus enfoques desde referentes en el contexto internacional y cubano. Objetivo: indagar sobre el desempeño profesional de Enfermería en el contexto del seguimiento a la adherencia al tratamiento antirretroviral, al considerar su relación con las condiciones actuales de la práctica de la enfermería cubana. Métodos: se realizó análisis de contenido de documentos, que incluyó artículos originales y de revisión publicados de 1999 al 2015 en SciELO, Dialnet y elsevier, con las siguientes palabras clave desempeño, profesional, enfermería, adherencia terapéutica, antirretroviral. Se identificaron y revisaron 20 artículos, de los que fueron útiles 11, así como monografías de varias revistas que permitieron el análisis histórico lógico de la evolución de la categoría. Conclusiones: la indagación sobre el desempeño profesional de enfermería en el seguimiento al tratamiento antirretroviral permitió definir operacionalmente esta categoría, son pocos los autores que la abordan; no obstante, los problemas que desafían los profesionales de enfermería en el contexto cubano condicionan la necesidad de promover mejoras en su actuación(AU)

ABSTRACT

Introduction: antiretroviral treatment follow-up is an edge of HIV/AIDS patient care and has a multidisciplinary approach in which the nursing professional, during his/her flexible and coherent performance, should achieve attitudes that favor high rates of therapeutic adherence. This category is little addressed, so it is necessary an evaluative analysis of its approaches, based on referents from the Cuban and international settings. Objective: To investigate about the nursing professional performance in the setting of antiretroviral treatment adherence monitoring, considering its relationship with the current conditions of the Cuban nursing practice. Methods: document analysis, including original and review articles published from 1999 to 2015 in SciELO, Dialnet y Elsevier, was carried out, under the following key words "profesional," "desempeño," "enfermería," adherencia terapéutica," "antirretroviral," in Spanish. Twenty articles were identified and reviewed, out of which 11 were useful, as well as monographs from several journals, which permitted the logical and historical analysis of the category's evolution. Conclusions: The inquiry into the nursing professional performance in monitoring antiretroviral treatment allowed to operationally define this category, which only few authors addressed; however, the problems faced by the nursing professionals in the Cuban context condition the need for promoting improvements in their performance(AU)
