RESUMEN

Objetivo: determinar la calidad de vida y la sobrecarga percibida por el cuidador familiar del paciente con insuficiencia renal crónica en Cartagena. Materiales y métodos: estudio descriptivo participaron 135 cuidadores familiares de pacientes con IRC que están en proceso de hemodiálisis y diálisis peritoneal en Cartagena, para evaluar la calidad de vida se aplicó la escala medición de la calidad de vida de un miembro familiar que brinda cuidados a una persona, instrumento propuesto por Ferrel y cols (1997) y la escala de sobrecarga del cuidador de Zarit. Se analizaron los datos en el paquete estadístico SPSS versión 22®. Los cuales se expresaron en promedios, frecuencias absolutas y relativas. Resultados: la mayoría de los participantes fueron mujeres, que dedican de 7 a 12 horas al cuidado del paciente y llevan más de 37 meses como cuidador. En los cuidadores los bienestares físico, social y espiritual presentaron baja alteración, con medias de 8,4, 14,8 y 16,1 respectivamente, la media del bienestar psicológico estuvo en 28,1,con una desviación estándar de 6,1 indicando una percepción negativa, lo que sugiere una alta afectación. En lo que concierne a la sobrecarga, el 39,3% de los cuidadores manifestó tener una sobre carga ligera y el 25,2% sobrecarga intensa. Conclusión: se identificaron cuidadores con alta afectación del bienestar psicológico y baja afectación de los bienestares físico, social y espiritual, elementos indispensables para el desarrollo del individuo. ABSTRACT

Objective: to determine the quality of life and the overload perceived by the family caregiver of the patient with chronic renal failure in Cartagena. Materials and methods: a descriptive study involving 135 family caregivers of patients with CRF who are in the process of hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis in Cartagena, to assess the quality of life the scale was applied measurement of the quality of life of a family member who provides care a person, an instrument proposed by Ferrel et al (1997) and the overload scale of the caregiver of Zarit. In the caregivers the physical, social and spiritual well-being presented low alteration, with means of 8,4, 14,8 and 16,1 respectively, the average of the psychological well-being was in 28,1, with a standard deviation of 6.1 indicating a negative perception, which suggests a high affectation . Regarding overload, 39,3% of the caregivers said they had a light overload and 25,2% heavy overload. Conclusion: caregivers were identified with high affectation of the psychological well-being and low affectation of the physical, social and spiritual well-being, indispensable elements for the development of the individual.
