RESUMO

O presente artigo descreve e analisa as recreações populares medievais e o modo como estas passaram por um processo de reforma para a constituição de uma nova moralidade dos costumes. São analisadas como diversas práticas começam a entrar em decadência a partir do modo com o clero, a nobreza e burguesia começam a coloca-las em suspeita. Particularmente, é analisada a influência do movimento puritano, na direção de uma nova ética pautada no trabalho e com fins racionais.

ABSTRACT

This article describes and analyses the popular medieval recreations and how they went through a process of reform for the constitution of a new morality of customs. They are analysed how diverse practices begin to fall into decadence from the way the clergy, the nobility and bourgeoisie begin to put them in suspicion. In particular, the influence of the Puritan movement is analysed, in the direction of a new ethics based on work and with rational goals.
