Summary:
Introduction:
The sense of smell, together with the taste, is one of the most primitive senses. It is not considered essential for life and survival in adult humans, but it plays an important role in the newborns as a main component of mother-child relationship (attachment), facilitating growth and development, which depends not only on the caloric and water contribution offered with the feeding, but also on the psychoaffective factor generated from mother-baby relationship.
