RESUMO
Resumo Analisa a relação entre a representação da mulher idealizada nos manuais de economia doméstica e das figuras femininas dos anúncios publicados nas revistas O Cruzeiro e Manchete entre as décadas de 1940 e 1960. Com propostas editoriais diferentes, os manuais e as revistas se voltavam - predominantemente - para mulheres que exerciam as funções de esposa, dona de casa, mãe e empregada doméstica. Apesar dessa nítida delimitação de papéis, havia uma tensão em torno da figura feminina que já não se mostrava tão resignada ao lar e já ocupava postos de trabalho na esfera pública. O consumo se transformaria no denominador comum entre essas diferentes mulheres. Os novos produtos garantiriam saúde, conforto e praticidade a todas.
ABSTRACT
Abstract The relationship between the representation of the idealized woman in the household economics manuals and the female figures of the advertisements published in O Cruzeiro and Manchete magazines between the 1940s and 1960s is analyzed. With different editorial proposals, manuals and magazines were predominantly directed at women who performed the duties of wife, housewife, mother and maid. Despite this clear definition of roles, there existed some tension around the female figure who was no longer tied to the home and already occupied jobs in the public sphere. Consumption became the common denominator among these different women. The new products guaranteed health, comfort and practicality to all concerned.
