Entre o tempo livre e a educação: considerações sobre juventude, mídias e lazer / Between free time and education: considerations about youth, media and leisure

RESUMO

Este ensaio reflete sobre as relações entre juventude, mídias e lazer, buscando identificar as principais demandas formativas advindas dessa relação, bem como apresentar algumas das respostas dadas a elas. A relevância dos meios de comunicação no âmbito do lazer já é antiga e remonta a um passado não tão recente em que mídias massivas como a TV já ocupavam parte significativa do tempo livre das massas. Com a ascensão das mídias digitais, surgem novos recursos voltados à informação, criação e sociabilidade, cujas potencialidades têm sido amplamente reconhecidas e divulgadas. Nesse sentido, as apropriações dos jovens são objeto de intensos debates, ora pela originalidade e vanguardismo apresentados por elas, ora pelos discursos deterministas e essencialistas que tem ocultado suas contradições e insuficiências.

ABSTRACT

This essay reflects about the relationships between youth, media and leisure, seeking to identify the main training demands arising from this relationship, as well as to present some of the answers given to them. The relevance of the media in the field of leisure is old and goes back to a not so recent past in which mass media such as TV occupied a significant part of the free time of the masses. With the rise of digital media, new information resources are emerging, whose potentialities have been widely recognized and disseminated. In this sense, the appropriations of young people are the object of intense debates, sometimes for the originality and avant-gardism presented by them, or for the determinist and essentialist discourses that have hidden their contradictions and insufficiencies.
