RESUMEN
Esta es una revisión retrospectiva acerca de la situación actual de la diabetes en Guatemala de los últimos 10 anos. Según el análisis final de la encuesta de CADMI, la prevalencia de diabetes fue del 8.5% en Centroamérica, encontrando que la población más joven se encuentra en Guatemala. Los datos internacionales no están lejos de lo demostrado en los resultados analizados sin embargo si denota la carencia de información y la necesidad de realizar estudios epidemiológicos complementarios.(AU)
ABSTRACT
This is a retrospective review on the status of diabetes mellitus in Guatemala over the past 10 years. According to the final analysis CADMI survey, the prevalence of diabetes mellitus was 8.5% in Central America and found that the younger population is located in Guatemala. International data are not far from the results shown in this review; however, the lack of information shows the need for additional epidemiological studies.(AU)
