RESUMEN: El presente trabajo de tesis se centró en la caracterización genética de cepas autóctonas de Chlamydia trachomatis en dos poblaciones consideradas vulnerables. Este microorganismo es una bacteria sexualmente transmisible más prevalente en todo el mundo y la principal causa mundial de ceguera prevenible al ser el agente etiológico del tracoma. ABSTRACT: The focus of this thesis work is on the genetic characterization of native strains of chlamydia trachomatis in two populations considered vulnerable. This bacterium is the cause of most prevalent sexually transmitted bacterial infection worldwide and the most important cause of preventable blindness because is the etiologic agent of trachoma.
