RESUMO
O consumo de álcool é um hábito comum nas sociedades, porém, seu uso abusivo e outras formas graves de uso podem gerar diversos prejuízos físicos, familiares e sociais. Estima-se que 3,3 milhões de mortes no mundo a cada ano são atribuídas ao uso de álcool. As características do trabalho em saúde podem ser fatores associados ao consumo nocivo de álcool, uma vez que colocam os profissionais em vivências constantes com o sofrimento e o adoecer humano, e não raro, oferecem condições organizacionais, de infraestrutura e de relações interpessoais impróprias, que contribuem para o adoecimento. Trata-se de um estudo transversal, desenvolvido com 1776 profissionais de saúde da Rede Municipal de Saúde de Belo Horizonte/MG no período de 2008 a 2009, com o objetivo de identificar os fatores associados com o uso abusivo/dependência de álcool. ABSTRACT
Alcohol consumption is a common habit in societies, but its abusive use and other serious forms of use can generate diverse physical, family and social damages. It has been estimated that 3.3 million deaths worldwide each year are attributed to alcohol use. The characteristics of health work can be factors associated with the harmful consumption of alcohol, since they put the professionals in constant experiences with the human suffering and the illness, and not infrequently, they offer inadequate organizational, infrastructure and interpersonal relations conditions that Contribute to illness.
