RESUMEN

Introducción: En este trabajo se detalla el aporte de un proyecto de vinculación entre la universidad y la comunidad para mejorar la atención a los adultos mayores dando respuesta a la necesidad de intervenciones específicas que les garanticen una vida digna y segura. Objetivo: Describir las experiencias de la aplicación de dicho proyecto en centros de atención a adultos mayores en la ciudad de Loja. Métodos: Se ejecutó durante el año 2016 y los actores involucrados fueron estudiantes de la titulación de Medicina. Fueron atendidos 92 adultos mayores y se utilizó el método investigación - acción participativa, a partir del diagnóstico situacional de la entidad beneficiaria y la aplicación de las habilidades de los estudiantes. Se completó el análisis de la situación de salud y el diagnóstico psicosocial, se identificaron y priorizaron problemas de salud. Resultados: Los estudiantes recibieron ocho horas semanales de capacitación durante el ciclo académico en temas relacionados con la atención a los adultos mayores, pusieron en práctica los conocimientos recibidos y desarrollaron competencias que les permitieron contribuir a fomentar un adecuado cuidado a este grupo poblacional. A partir de ello fueron ejecutadas actividades de diagnóstico, promoción de salud, educación para la salud y prevención de algunas condiciones geriátricas. Conclusiones: La vinculación de la universidad y la comunidad devino en estrategia eficaz no solo por su contribución a la formación de recursos humanos en salud sino porque además mejoró la calidad de vida de los adultos mayores de los centros geriátricos de la ciudad de Loja(AU)

ABSTRACT

Introduction: In this work the contribution of a project of association between the university and the community to improve the attention to the bigger adults by giving answer to the need of specific interventions that guarantee you a worthy and sure life. Objective: To describe the experiences of the application of this project in from attention to adult's bigger centers in the Loja city. Methods: Executed during the year 2016 and the involucrate actors went students of the titration of medicine. Were paid attention 92 adult elders and it is used the investigation method-participation-action, as of the diagnostic of the situation of the beneficiary entity and the application of the skills of the students. They carried out the analysis of the situation of health and the diagnostic psychological and social identified and granted priority problems of health.Results: The students received eight weekly hours of training during the academic cycle in topics related with the attention to the bigger adults, put into practice the knowledge's received and develop competences that permitted contribute you to foment an appropriate taken care of to this population group. as of it they were executed activities of diagnosis, health promotion, education for the health and prevention of someone geriatrics condition. Conclusions: The association of the university and the community happened in effective strategy not single for your contribution to the formation of human resources in health or that moreover improved the quality of life of the bigger adults of the geriatrics centers of the Loja city(AU)
