Cáncer de tiroides en el Hospital General Docente Dr Agostinho Neto de Guantánamo / Characterization of the thyroid cancer in the Hospital Dr Agostinho Neto, Guantanamo

RESUMEN

Introducción: en Guantánamo existen pocos estudios relacionados al cáncer de tiroides. Objetivo: caracterizar el cáncer de tiroides en el servicio de cirugía general del Hospital General Docente "Dr. Agostinho Neto" durante los años 2012 - 2016. Método: se realizó un estudio descriptivo, prospectivo y longitudinal en 34 pacientes; se abordó las siguientes variables edad; sexo; topografía, tamaño, etapa evolutiva y tipo histológico del tumor; lesiones asociadas; sobrevida del paciente; momento y tiempo de decisión de la tiroidectomía y complicaciones postoperatorias. Resultados: el mayor número de pacientes fueron mujeres; la edad osciló entre 29 y 39 años; se afectó más el lóbulo izquierdo de la glándula y el tumor fue menor de 2 cm, fue más frecuente el tumor papilar, la lesión más asociada fue el bocio multinodular. La mayor proporción de los pacientes estaban en la etapa II del cáncer y sobrevivieron de 2 a 5 años. A todos se les realizó tiroidectomía, en su mayoría se decidió desde la consulta preoperatoria. Algunos pacientes presentaron alguna complicación. Conclusiones: se reveló la importancia de la precocidad del diagnóstico y la decisión de la tiroidectomía total(AU)

ABSTRACT

Introduction: in Guantanamo the thyroid cancer has not been studied. Objective: to characterize the thyroid cancer in the Service of General Surgery of the Hospital Dr. Agostinho Neto during the years 2012-2016. Method: A descriptive, prospective and longitudinal study was made. The following variables were approached age; sex; topography, size, evolutionary stage and histological type of the tumor; injure associate; moment of choice of the total tiroidectomy and time for the choice of carrying out it and postoperative complications. Results: the patients were women mainly; they had age between 29 and 39 years; it was affected more the left lobe of the gland and the tumor was smaller than 2 cm; it was more frequent the tumor papilar; the most associate lesion was the goiter multinodular. The biggest proportion in the patient one was in the stage II of the cancer, and survived2 to 5 years. All they were carried out tiroidectomy that decided from the preoperative consultation in 53.0%. 23.5% of the patients presented some complication. Conclusions: It is revealed the importance of the precocious diagnosis and the decision of the total tiroidectomy from the preoperative consultation(AU)
