ABSTRACT
Suicide is a worldwide issue, as suicide rates continue to rise. Being one of the main causes of death in our society, Chile is not left out of this problem, considered as a priority approach in its current and future policies. The present study was based from the perspective of Social Constructionism. Suicide is the result of a number of factors, mainly socio-environmental, psychiatric and behavioral. The objective was to identify narratives around the life story of patients hospitalized for suicide attempt. For this purpose a descriptive qualitative methodology was used, with a narrative design, based on the Grounded Theory, in order to be able to investigate subjective experiences. The strategy used for data collection was the review of semi-structured clinical interviews. Provide an in-depth approach to the way patients live the suicide attempt, understanding from their perspective the concepts they have around it, the way they mean it, what they think about it and how it relates to the concept of suicide, life and future. Narratives are shown around their life histories, associated with not staying stuck in speeches of the deficit, but in opening new possibilities to find a sense of life and to achieve to some extent to eliminate the interior void that was identified in them.
