Objective:
To evaluate the Facial convexity angle (FCA), Total facial convexity angle (TFCA), Maxilla position (Gl-Sn(PH)) and Jaw position (Gl-Pog Ì(PH)) of soft-tissue profile in children aged between 3-5 years of age. Materials andmethods:
A cross-sectional study involving 119 children of both genders from two kindergartens, Lima-Peru, who were examined and from whom profile photo-graphs were obtained. The Planmeca® program was used to evaluate two angles and two linear measurements. Associa-tions were tested using the Chi square test, averages between genders were assessed using the Student's t-test, and between age, primary molar relationship and primary canine relationship using the Anova test. Results:
The average values were fca=165.89º ±4.57, tfca= 144.18º ±4.31, gl-pog Ì(ph)= -14mm ±5.07 and Gl-Sn(PH)=-2.5mm ±3.4. Differences between gender and Gl-Sn(PH) groups were statistically significant. Conclu-sions It was found that males exhibited a more convex facial profile than females, while this finding was not statistically significant; however, males exhibited the maxilla in a more forward position, and this finding was statistically significant. The values found were not the same as those found in other ethnic groups; it was also observed that rate of growth in Peruvian children is slower than in other populations. (AU)
