ABSTRACT
Twenty patients with acute non-complicating Schistosoma mansoni infection and 20 controls were studied as concerns I. Q., EEG, CSF, immunoglobulins and pneumoencephalography. I. Q. Was significantly lower than the control and a significant link was found with the EEG changes and degree of eosinophilia. Pneumoencephalography was normal without any mass lesions. Only one patient with mild symmetrical frontal dilatation. EEG showed epileptiform activity of irritative nature without over clinical seizures. The EEG changes might be intermittent and related to the humoral immune response disturbances in the acute stages of schistosomiasis
