The vascularized pedicled bony flap as an access to the maxillary sinus

ABSTRACT
This study was done to evaluate clinically and radiographically the effect of vascularized pedicled bony flap performed by the reciprocating saw, as an access to the maxillary sinus. This clinical study was carried out on ten patients suffering from chronic maxillary sinusitis as a result of dental implications. The use of the vascularized pedicled bony flap showed rapid healing without tissue intrusion into the sinus and decreased the chance of postoperative infection while preserving the infraorbital bundle. All the radiographs showed gradual improvement in which trabiculation is regained, cloudiness of the antrum disappear, and the clinical findings are of promising
